Frontline depends on donations of food to continue serving those on the streets downtown. Food drives are a great way to gather need items, and they also allow a large amount of people to get involved in the giving. Schools, church groups, organizations, businesses - any kind of person and group that you can imagine has held food drives for us. It is an inspiration to see preschoolers bring in food, to see a group of employees bring in cans, each worth a ticket to win a drawing for a paid day off. The school kids, even apartment dwellers in a complex. What unifies them all is their desire to ease hunger by giving that which will alleviate it - food. When you have a food drive, you must have it for one specific item. We cannot use a variety of miscellaneous things like garbanzo beans, asparagus tips and mackarel. We cannot combine them to make anything. We also use mass quantities of specific foods so we need a lot of the same thing. So, check back periodically to see what we are in need of at the time. You can make up a flyer to distribute or some even get the word out through an email list. You can put up a poster - anything to get the word out.
Food that is collected can be dropped off at our kitchen in Northridge, CA. When you are ready to have your food drive, please email us or call (818)780-1995.
